Véronique Roberts is a certified exercise physiologist, graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics. She does individual coaching as much as group training classes.
In order to know more about her clients, she uses the following tools to assess their movement patterns: Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and “Y” Balance Test (YBT).
Those tools help her building training sessions according to her client’s needs and also help her put a number to how they are progressing in their training. In addition to seeing the progress in their training, those tools also give her the power to let them know if they are ready to go back to their sport if they have been injured in the past or if they are at risk of injury if they are returning to their sport.
The FMS is there to objectively evaluate different movement patterns and shed some light on asymmetries and on possible dysfunctional patterns. The YBT is there to objectively evaluate balance in a dynamic way.
The relationship she has with her clients is very important to her. She is very thankful to be able to witness her client’s journey to health and sports performance. Getting her clients out of their comfort zone is something she enjoys doing in a safe environment. She can train her clients at home as much as in a gym. Improving movement patterns doesn’t require much equipment. It is just important to remember that if you have any health issues that you need to get this cleared out with your doctor before you try any sort of physical activity.
