Functional Movement Screen (FMS)
The FMS is a tool used to rating and ranking movement patterns. There are seven movement patterns that are used in the FMS: Deep Squat, Hurdle Step, Inline Lunge, Shoulder Mobility, Active Straight-Leg Raise, Trunk Stability Push-Up and Rotary Stability. Those movement patterns require balance, mobility and stability, which means that it will test your balance, mobility (flexibility) and stability (core strength and the ability to stabilize your body while another part of your body is moving). The results of the test will inform you on which area that needs to be worked on in order to help you stay away from injury.
